Marina Tornatora

Architect, associated professor in Architectural Design at the Department of Architecture and Territory – dArTe – within the Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria. She is a member of the Doctorate Board and responsible for international relations.  From 2019 she coordinates the Double Degree Program with the Ain Shans University from Cairo and she became a Visiting Professor at the London Metropolitan University. The focus of her theoretical, design and teaching activities is the relationships between the city, the landscape and the architecture, that are evident through her numerous publications, curated exhibitions, as well as the interventions in national and international workshops, and conferences  developed also within the Research Laboratory Landscape_inProgress (L_inP) that she founded in 2014 together with Ottavio Amaro. Some of her recent researches and exhibitions are: _2020 H2O_ SCAPE Tirana – KA107 Erasmus with the Polis University of Tirana; _2019 ENABLE – Embedding collaborative platform for up skilling and networking toward sustainable cities: European research project on competitive tender – KA 203 (Strategic Partnership for Higher education), in partnership with the Faculty of Architecture and Design – UACS University American College of Skopje and the Technische Universita et of Vienna; _METAMORFOSI #Beniconfiscati, Research and projects on goods confiscated from the mafia in agreement with the Macramè social consortium; _THE TURISM AS ART OF PLACES; _2015 LANDSCAPES_inPROGRESS: ideas and projects for the metropolitan city of Reggio Calabria supported by the Ministry of Heritage and Cultural Activities. It is an outcome of a call that offers a reflection on the idea of the contemporary city and has been selected byItaly in a frame – Milan Triennial, for the exhibition “Community Italy. Architecture, City and Landscape after the war to two thousand “curated by A. Ferlenga and M. Biraghi;_2015 THE THIRD ISLAND AG’64’94’14 by A. Ottomanelli, XIV International Biennale of Architecture in Venice, Monditalia, where she has curated a series of events involving photographers, directors, architects and writers aiming to establish the Observatory for the Major Art Works in Italy; _2018#99FILES, Brutalism Skopje an innovative and multidisciplinary platform that through an international call collects and elaborates materials for thebrutalist architecture in the Balkan area. The first edition, that elaborates the city of Skopje, was concluded with an exhibitionthat took place in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Skopje_MoCa;_2018, Freeng Space, XVI International Biennale of Architecture in Venice, 2018. Exhibiting the research and design project SKOPJE DESTRATIFICATION ’29 ’65 ’sk14 ‘2020 regarding the current transformation of the architectural legacy in Macedonia. She is a member in several international scientific committees, such as the “Designing Heritage Tourism Landscapes”; [CO] HABITATION TACTICS, Polis Tirana. Recently has published the book Learning from Pavilion. 100+100, that explores the topic of the exhibition pavilion as a moment of reflection of the architectural project in relation to the artistic practices and design.

 

Architetto, professore associato in Progettazione Architettonica presso il Dipartimento DArTe, dell’Università Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria dove è membro del Collegio del Dottorato e delegata alle relazioni internazionali. Dal 2019 è coordinatore del Double Degree Program con l’Ain Shams University del Cairo e Visiting Professor alla London Metropolitan University. Fa parte di diversi Comitati scientifici internazionali tra cui il network “DesigningHeritage TourismLandscapes”, e [CO] HABITATION TACTICS, Polis Tirana. Di recente pubblicazione il volume monografico Learning from Pavilion. 100+100, che propone il tema del Padiglione espositivo come momento di riflessione sul progetto architettonico in relazione alle pratiche artistiche e al design.
